Felicia M. Medina is an Associate in the Washington D.C. office of Sanford Wittels & Heisler, LLP.
Ms. Medina assisted with a case representing 5600 female sales representatives for Novartis Pharmaceuticals in the U.S. in the largest gender discrimination case ever to reach trial. After a 5 week trial the jury found Novartis liable for discrimination in pay and promotion and related to pregnancy. The jury returned a verdict of $250 million in punitive damages and the entire class of 5600 women is also entitled to compensatory damages which could reach into the hundreds of millions of dollars.
Before joining SWH in January 2009, Ms. Medina worked in the securities litigation and employment & labor practice groups of Morrison & Foerster, LLP. She was on the board of the Tom Homann Law Association, an LGBT lawyers organization, and was a regular volunteer attorney at a girls rehabilitation facility and a homeless rights project. While at Yale, Ms. Medina was a Student Supervisor in the clinic providing civil legal services to the Latino and immigrant communities in Fair Haven, Connecticut.
Before becoming a lawyer, Ms. Medina worked in the political consulting field and as a public school teacher in her hometown of Fresno, California.
Ms. Medina is practicing under the supervision of David Sanford, a member of the DC bar, while her application to the DC bar is pending.
