Adriana Koeck

Adriana Koeck is Of Counsel to Sanford Wittels & Heisler, LLP.

Ms. Koeck received her law degree from the University of Notre Dame. Ms. Koeck received a dual LL.M. degree in Taxation and International & Comparative Law from Georgetown University Law Center, and she attended the Concannon Programme of International Law in London, England. Ms. Koeck has more than 17 years of experience in international and domestic corporate and banking law. She has extensive experience in handling fraud, anti-money laundering, and anti-counterfeiting and international tax matters.

Ms. Koeck recently served as US Commercial Law Counsel and Lead Latin American Counsel for the General Electric Company. She has represented multi-national clients in the United States and Latin America on a wide range of international, corporate, trade and banking matters, including Chile ’s largest soybean and grain import/export trading company and Chile ’s largest fishery. Ms. Koeck also served as the Assistant General Counsel of a publicly traded finance bank. She interacted extensively with every division of the financial institution, supervised external litigation counsel and Latin American legal counsel, and ensured that multi-national borrowers were in compliance with all pertinent laws and regulations in Latin America.

Ms. Koeck began her career as an attorney with White & Case, LLP, where she dealt extensively in international corporate law, finance, and securities matters; she assisted foreign construction companies with Chilean infrastructure projects; and she assumed a front-line role in representing White & Case in connection with Chile ’s attempted accession to NAFTA.

Ms. Koeck's post-graduate papers included: An Analysis of U.S. Investment Management Activities of Foreign Banks; Legal Analysis of Promissory Notes in Latin America; A Legal Analysis of the International Standard-setting Process Relating to Human Health and Life for Purposes of Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures; and A Tax Analysis of Foreign Investment in Chile and Mexico. Ms. Koeck is a frequent speaker on topics related to international corporate corruption. She recently authored an article entitled “Brazil Tries to Tackle Corruption from Globalization: A New Role for the Private Sector,” published by the International Enforcement Law Reporter.

Ms. Koeck founded the Chile/U.S. Chamber of Commerce, for which she recruited a spectrum of thirty senior business leaders from major California industries for the board of directors and the attendance of the President of Chile, Ricardo Lagos Escobar, for the formal inauguration. She has also hosted numerous seminars involving senior-level Chilean government officials. Ms. Koeck was a delegate to the Asian-Pacific Economic Cooperation CEO Summit in 2004. Ms. Koeck was also a Notre Dame Scholar.

Ms. Koeck is fluent in Spanish, English, Portuguese and French. Ms. Koeck is admitted to practice law in the District of Columbia, California and Florida. She is a dual citizen of Chile and the United States.
